Nested Movies

You may add another details of steam engine. It could be either graphic symbols or movie symbols. When working on them don’t worry to much about their size draw them as it’s convenient for you.

Now you may delete all your symbols from the stage. Don’t worry – they all stays in the library.

The next step – using Menu-Insert-New Symbol create a new movie symbol mvTrain

Create as many layers as many different parts you have in your assembly. It is not absolutely necessary step, but it’s more convenient.

Drag all train parts to the appropriate layers. Remember to use movie symbols where you have it. So, you may have mvTube, mvSmoke, grBody (if it’s still) and you will need to drag several mvWheel’s .

Adjust symbol sizes and position.

Your assembled train may look like that.

You’ve notice again that train is “quite animated” even if you have only one frame on the main timeline. Several movie symbols “live” according their own timelines.

This concept sometime is called “Nested Movies” – where movie symbol encapsulates other movies symbols and those in their turn includes more movie or graphic symbols. Sometimes you may reach actual drawings after several steps going deeper and deeper in the chain.
