Layers and Frames
Shapes are mixed together
Today we will be working with Timeline Panel. With this panel you will start learning techniques, which distinguish Flash from other Web development applications.
At first let’s make one experiment with drawings. It may be that while working with drawing tools you ran into this problem, but even if not you need to know about that to prevent your drawings corrupting in the future.
Do this steps
- Open new file and draw a relatively large rectangle on the stage.
- Select a contrast color and draw a smaller oval inside the larger rectangle
- Deselect the oval by clicking the mouse somewhere outside the drawing
- Select the oval again with Arrow tool
- Move the oval by mouse dragging or keyboard arrow keys
You will see that it’s a hole left in the rectangle fill. Click several times an example below to see how it happens, but remember to do your own example.
It happens because both rectangle and oval are drawn in the same layer. Colors are different and can be selected independently, but they are spread like in the only thin film. So if we move the selection – there is nothing behind.
Now click the second example several times. You see that the same drawings are not mixed and oval moves above the rectangle It is because they were placed into the separate Layers
