Drawing Tools
Become a Flash Artist
To create a Flash visible content for your first file you need… to draw something. So, today you will learn about drawing tools. In the previous lesson you were shown Tools panel, you will use it from now on extensively.
If you use any graphical editor such as Photoshop or even simple Windows Paint, you are already aware of the meaning of most icon you see at the Tools panel. However working with them is slightly different if compare to the most traditional graphic design tools. The reason of this difference is the difference between vector and bitmap graphics. As we discussed before vector shapes (used in Flash) are described with equations and bitmaps (used in Paint) are stored as the set of points. It leads to the fact that drawing on the screen is done a bit differently, the mouse “feel not the same”.
Because of that you may need to practice a little drawing simple shapes and manipulating them. Repeating what we said in introduction – don’t say yourself “I know how to draw a circle” – simply draw it on the stage.
Create a new Flash file in the folder where you keep your example and we will start.
