Flash Design “Streams”

Flash is a tool, which is used to create an animation. But animation itself may be used in various cases. For most people who have seen Flash movies on Internet – it’s a “flashy” fast moving introductive presentation, which leads to the traditional website. There is an extensive use of animated text slogans supplemented with graphics. They mainly serve as a “commercial” advertisement introducing the site.

So – the first stream in Flash design – Introductory movies.

The second stream, which is still is not common but gains more and more popularity. It is a fully Flash Based Website. Most of such sites contains not so much text and intended to be graphically attractive. Very often they are divided into short similar “pages”. Example could be – “Butterflies of Vancouver” – hobby site where each page bears name of the butterfly, it’s photo and short description. Some butterflies are animated and really flying! There could be more advanced Flash websites even connected to databases and able to receive information from user and generate page appearance differently depending on situation.

The next stream includes Computer Art. There are many examples of animation sites, some of which are really beautiful. It maybe an “impression” movie-cartoon or even animated “world” which bears certain “creatures” which live obeying certain evolution laws or … anything beautiful and artistic but serving no direct profitable goal. There are some interesting Flash personages inhabiting Internet.

One more stream is Flash Games. Usually they are small and very simple, but visually original and not without humour.

And also there are Flash Tidbits – small objects like buttons which are done independently and embedded in traditional websites
